COMPLEX/CHRONIC WOUND REPAIR
Difficult wounds that will not heal, or have taken a long time
to heal, can sometimes benefit from plastic surgery repair. This
may involve a skin graft, local flap,
or microsurgical transplantation. In some cases, other procedures may be needed,
such as arterial bypass or antibiotic treatment.
These procedures are usually performed under general or spinal anesthesia,
and patients are often in the hospital 5-7 days. In some cases the patients
can go
home the same day.
