Dr Kovanda has practiced plastic surgery in the Twin Cities since 1999 and is one of the senior partners at Midwest Plastic Surgery. He has extensive training in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and likes to offer the best of both specialties to all patients for maximal results. He specializes in surgeries of the breast, body, face and hand and is particularly interested in innovative and minimally invasive procedures.

He is a member of the prestigious American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) reserved for a select group of plastic surgeons who have attained the highest level of achievement in cosmetic surgical training, education and experience. He has published in the Plastic Surgery Journal on cosmetic Laser Blepharoplasty and has received the ASAPS Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery.

He has been named one of "Americas Top Surgeons" by the Consumers Research Council of America and has received the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award. He is a recognized leader in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and was appointed to the Breast Health Expert Panel at North Memorial Hospital and served on the Congressional Committee Physicians Advisory Board. Dr Kovanda has shared his skills and expertise with doctors in Haiti where he participated on a medical mission dealing with complex plastic surgical cases.
