LIPOSUCTION
Procedure Description
Liposuction reduces localized deposits of excess fatty tissue. Frequently treated
areas include the thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, abdomen, and lower back. The
area under the chin, upper arms, and calves are also sometimes treated.
During the procedure, a tube is used to suction the fat cells from the area of
desired reduction. Liposuction does not improve cellulite or remove significant
amounts of weight.
If you have good skin tone overall and are not obese, but have localized areas
of fat tissue deposits, you could be a good candidate for liposuction. Please
call us to discuss if liposuction is a good choice for you.
Surgery and Recovery
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and patients go
home the same day. Compressive garments are used to reduce swelling
and bruising. Recovery
time is 5-7 days for most of the discomfort to subside, and 2-4 weeks for
the majority of swelling to go down. The final result evolves over
the next 6 months
or so. Small scars are left where the suction tube enters the skin.
Please schedule a consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if liposuction is right for you.
Please note, any patient
considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall
good health and currently a non-smoker.
