EYELID SURGERY (Blepharoplasty)
Procedure Description
Blepharoplasty smoothes the appearance of the eyelids by removing
or repositioning excess fatty tissue, or "bags," under
the eyes. Adjustments can be made for drooping upper eyelids
as well, resulting in a more well-rested appearance.
Surgery can be performed on upper or lower lids alone or in combination.
Good candidates for the procedure have heavy wrinkles, drooping, or excess
skin in the upper lids or bulging skin and “bags” under the eyes.
Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is performed with light sedation
or general anesthesia and patients go home the same
day. Bruising and swelling subside in 7-14 days. Occasionally,
the eyelids feel tight during this time, but the use
of eyedrops will help. Scars are left along the upper
eyelid fold and just under the lashes on the lower
lid and take 6-12 months to fully mature. Sometimes,
lower lid surgery is completed without external scarring.
Please schedule a complimentary consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if a
blepharoplasty is right for you.
Please
note, any patient considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures
should be in overall good health and currently a non-smoker.
