EAR SURGERY (Otoplasty)
Procedure Description
Patients choose otoplasty to improve the appearance of prominent ears. During
this procedure, the ear is pulled back towards the head and affixed to reduce
the prominence. The shape of the ear is adjusted to add the normal cartilage
and skin folds.
Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia for children and local
anesthesia or light sedation for adults. Patients go home the same day. Patients
wear a headband for the first few days around the clock, then at night only
for several weeks. It takes 7-14 days for bruising and most of the swelling
to subside. Scars are placed behind the ears.
Please schedule a complimentary consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if an otoplasty is right for you.
Please note, any patient
considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall
good health and currently a non-smoker.
