BREAST LIFT (Mastopexy)
Procedure Description
A breast lift improves the shape of the breasts. During the surgery, excess
skin is removed from the lower part of the breast, then the skin is redraped
and the
nipple elevated.
Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and patients go home the
same day. Discomfort gradually reduces over 5-7 days and we recommend patients
take around one week off work to recover. Strenuous activity should also be avoided
for 3-4 weeks after surgery.
Scars are normally left around the areola, down the lower part of the front of
the breast, and along the crease below the breast, although sometimes scars can
be reduced to only around the areola. Scars will lighten over a 6-12 month period.
Please schedule a complimentary consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if a
mastopexy is right for you.
Please note, any patient
considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall
good health and currently a non-smoker.
